A late start day means a change in the regular routine for our children. We enjoyed our morning snack in the courtyard which was a nice change after being indoors for the past 10 days. Our friends found many gross motor activities to engage themselves in, running in circles, rolling in the mats, jumping off the risers, and climbing on the house structure.<\/p>\n
Otis and Maeve were so excited to make the pizza that they reminded their friends as they arrived to school. After much practice using the plastic knives, the children felt confident in their abilities to maneuver the sharp knife to cut mushrooms and bell peppers.\u00a0 The trickiest part of today’s cooking activity was to roll out the dough while applying enough pressure on both ends of the rolling pin. The children’s creativity was endless as they began to choose the toppings and the sequence of layering the ingredients.<\/p>\n
Maeve: “I made a circle” as she pointed to her ring of pepperoni<\/p>\n
Otis: “I want to put lots of sauce because it is yummy!”<\/p>\n
Louise: “I want to roll out my dough very very big and I want to mushrooms and peppers on it.”<\/p>\n
Carolina: “I want lots of cheese and pepperoni.”<\/p>\n
Xavier: “Can we add some more mushrooms?”<\/p>\n
Noah: “I want pepperoni…I want mushrooms…I want cheese.”<\/p>\n
Ezaad: “I like pepperoni, I like mushrooms, I like peppers.” “Is my pizza ready yet?” as he waited patiently for his pizza to bake.<\/p>\n
Alex: “Pepperoni, cheese, pizza!” “There’s 1, 2, 3, 3 cheese!”<\/p>\n
Penn: “I like to put lots of pepperoni on there, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5”<\/p>\n
