{"dailystories":[{"id":1398,"author_id":482,"author":"Heather Krick","posted":1513265439000,"title":"Indoor exploration","slug":"indoor-exploration","intro":"<p>Due to the poor air quality the children spent the day indoors; however, this did not slow down the Mighty Oaks!\u00a0 This opportunity allowed friends to socialize and build relationships with one another through reading, building structures, and pretend play.\u00a0 The Legos were brought out to the working table where Xavier and Noah were building up and out.\u00a0 &#8220;This is my train,&#8221; Xavier commented as he stretched his long row of Legos across the table.\u00a0 After Noah built his tower he brought some pieces over and asked, &#8220;Can I build with you?&#8221; and helped add pieces to the train.\u00a0 However, with Xavier&#8217;s plan to make it long they worked together to make it even longer!<\/p>\n<p>Louise and Kali were interested in the magnetic people where they were processing the different body parts of the feet, body, and head to connect.\u00a0 &#8220;Look at this! Kali stated as she proudly showed her tall tower.\u00a0 &#8220;I need a body, Louise said as she looked for more pieces to assemble her magnetic people.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past few days, we have noticed friends using the scissors with paper and so today we invited the children to the table to practice with real scissors.\u00a0 They learned about hand and finger placement and coordination as they practiced &#8220;open&#8221; and &#8220;close&#8221;. Some conversations we heard, &#8220;I do it!&#8221; Alex said. &#8220;I got the pink one&#8221; Evie commented as she held up her scissors.\u00a0 Maeve, Naveen, and Maya remained focused on coordinating the scissors and paper as they cut their lines.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow we are baking Coconut Bread!\u00a0 Carolina brought back passion-mango jam from her trip to Hawaii for us to use as a spread.
